Terms of service

The rules of the road.

Last updated: April 2026. This is the agreement between you and Hafen when you use the product. We'll keep it short and use plain words.

The plain-English version: Use Hafen lawfully. We give you the product as is, do our best to keep it useful, and may update it over time. Hafen is not a bank or a lender. If something breaks, our liability is limited.

1. Who's behind Hafen

Hafen is operated by Hafen, Inc., a U.S. company. When we say "we," "us," or "Hafen" in these terms, we mean that company. When we say "you," we mean you, the person creating an account or using the site.

2. The agreement

By creating a Hafen account or using the site, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Hafen.

3. What Hafen is

Hafen is a free personal finance tool. We help you understand your cash flow over the next 14 days and surface options when something tight is coming up. Hafen is not a bank, not a lender, not an investment advisor, and not a tax advisor. We do not provide regulated financial advice.

4. Eligibility

You must be 18 or older, a resident of the United States, and able to enter a binding contract to use Hafen.

5. Your account

You're responsible for keeping your account credentials safe and for everything that happens under your account. If you think someone has accessed your account without permission, write to security@gethafen.com.

6. Connecting your bank

Hafen reads your bank transactions through a secure, bank-grade connection. We do not move your money, and we do not store your bank password. You can disconnect at any time from settings.

7. Partner offers

From time to time, Hafen may surface offers from third-party partners — for example, a small advance product. Those offers are subject to the partner's own terms, which we'll show you before you accept anything. Hafen is not responsible for partner products and decisions, but we vet partners and only show offers we believe genuinely help.

8. Things you agree not to do

  • Use Hafen for anyone other than yourself.
  • Provide false information when creating your account.
  • Use Hafen in a way that violates the law.
  • Try to break, scrape, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the service.
  • Use Hafen to launder money or commit fraud.

9. Changes to the service

We may add, change, or remove features over time. If we make a change that meaningfully affects how you use Hafen, we'll let you know in advance.

10. Closing your account

You can close your Hafen account at any time from settings, or by emailing hello@gethafen.com. We may close or suspend an account if it's used to break the law or these terms.

11. The product is provided "as is"

We work hard to keep Hafen useful and accurate, but we provide it as is. Numbers come from your connected bank, and we cannot guarantee that every transaction or projection will be correct. Always verify with your bank before relying on Hafen for a critical decision.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Hafen and its team are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability is limited to the amounts you have paid us — which, for the free product, is zero.

13. Disputes

If we have a disagreement we can't sort out by email, these terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware. We will try to resolve disputes informally first; details on the process will be finalized prior to public launch.

14. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a meaningful way, we'll email you in advance and update the "last updated" date above before the change takes effect.

15. Contact

For questions about these terms: legal@gethafen.com. For everything else: hello@gethafen.com.

This document is a working version. Final terms governing arbitration, dispute resolution, and state-specific consumer protections will be finalized prior to public launch.
